ANDHRA CRAB CURRY / ANDHRA PEETHALA PULUSU

INGREDIENTS:

  • Crabs : ½ kg
  • Oil : 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric : ½ tsp
  • Cumin seeds : ½ tsp
  • Onions : 2
  • Green chillies : 2
  • Tomatoes : 2
  • Onion+green chilli+tomato paste : 1 cup
  • Tamarind paste : 2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder : 2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder : 2 tsp
  • Salt : as desired
  • Ginger-garlic paste : 2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder : 2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves : 2 sprigs

PROCEDURE :

  • Clean crabs thoroughly with water and cut into 2 pieces
  • In a bowl add salt to crabs ,mix and wash well again
  • Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds.When they crackle add onions,green chillies and fry till onions turn golden brown
  • Add turmeric,ginger-garlic paste and fry till raw smell disappears
  • Add onion+chilli+tomato paste and fry
  • Now add washed crabs and sauté for 5minutes
  • Close the lid and cook.stir in between
  • When the crabs are half cooked add salt,red chilly powder,coriander powder and stir.add little water and cook on low flame for 10minutes
  • Now add tamarind paste ,stir and cook on medium flame for few more minutes
  • add garam masala powder and cook for 5mins.add some chopped coriander leaves,stir and turn off the flame
  • Crab curry is ready .serve hot with steamed rice
