DONDAKAYA PACHADI/TINDORA CHUTNEY

INGREDIENTS:

  • Dondakaya/Tindora : 1/2 kg
  • Tomatoes : 2
  • green chillies : 4-6
  • garlic cloves : 2
  • cumin seeds : 2 tsp
  • Salt : as required
  • Turmeric : a pinch
  • For Tempering :
  • Mustard seeds : 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds : 1 tsp
  • urad dal : 1tsp
  • Chana Dal : 1 tsp
  • Red chillies : 2
  • Curry leaves : 6
  • Hing : a pinch

PROCEDURE :

  • Clean Tindora and cut into pieces.Chop tomatoes and slit grren chillies
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry green chillies first and keep them aside.
  • Now in the same pan add the chopped Tindora pieces and fry for 10mins by covering the lid.add turmeric and salt
  • When Tindora is half cooked add chopped tomatoes and cook for 10 more minutes
  • open the lid and fry till the tindora and tomatoes are roasted well but make sure that you do not burn.Now take the mixture and leave it aside to cool
  • In a blender/mixie add garlic,cumin seeds,tindora-tomato mixture and blend coarsely.Take the Chutney in a bowl.
  • For tempering heat oil in a pan and add all the ingredients listed under tempering and fry.Pour this tempering mixture on the Tindora Chutney and mix well
  • very tasty Tindora chutney is ready.serve this chutney with hot rice or idly or dosa
