DRY FISH CURRY/ENDU CHAPALA KURA/

INGREDIENTS:

  • Dry fish/Endu chepalu : a fistful
  • Mustard seeds : 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds : 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilly : 2 no’s
  • Curry leaves : a sprig
  • Coriander leaves : few
  • Onion :1 medium sized
  • Tomatoes : 2 medium sized & ripe
  • Ginger-garlic paste :1 teaspoon(optional)
  • Turmeric powder : ¼ teaspoon
  • Red chilly powder : 2 teaspoons
  • Coriander powder : 2 teaspoons

PREPERATION :

  • Chop onions, tomatoes and coriander finely.
  • keep ginger-garlic paste ready.
  • Soak the fish for about 15 minutes & clean properly (you have to remove head part before soaking)

PROCEDURE :

  • Heat oil in a pan ,add mustard seeds and jeera seeds
  • When they splutter add red chillies and curry leaves
  • add onions and sauté till they are golden brown
  • add ginger-garlic paste(optional)
  • add turmeric and salt
  • add fish and sauté for a minute or two
  • now add the tomatoes,red chilly powder,coriander powder, stir and close the lid for 5 to 10 minutes till the tomatoes become soft
  • now open the lid and stir for 2 minutes, add coriander leaves and turn off the heat
  • serve with hot rice and pappu charu(mild sambar)​
