Prawns Fry


  • Prawns : 500 gms
  • Onions : 2
  • Green chillies: 2
  • Curry leaves: a sprig(6-8)
  • Ginger garlic paste: 1 tbsp(3tsp)
  • Red chilli pwd : 2 tsp
  • Turmeric pwd : ½ tsp
  • Coriander pwd : 2tsp
  • Cumin pwd : 2tsp
  • Garam masala pwd : 2tsp
  • Lemon juice: 1 tsp
  • Salt: as desired
  • Curry leaves: 15
  • Oil : 2tbsp
  • Fried cashews: 4-6


  • Chop onions finely and slit green chillies length wise and keep aside.
  • Now clean the Prawns by adding little salt, turmeric, lemon juice and mix well. Clean well and keep aside.
  • Marinate the prawns in 1tsp ginger garlic paste, 1tsp chilli pwd, ¼ turmeric pwd,1tsp garam masala powder, ½ tsp lemon juice , little salt and keep aside for 30 minutes.
  • Add little water to the marinated prawns and bring to a boil, reduce the flame to medium and cook till Prawns are well cooked. Turn off heat and drain the excess water.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add onions, green chillies , curry leaves and saute till the onions turn brown.
  • Now add the cooked prawns and each tsp of red chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin powder,1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and stir fry for 5 mts. Adjust salt and add a tsp of garam masala powder. Fry till the prawns look golden brown.
  • Garnish with fried cashews and coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice
