RAVA UPMA/UPMA/SUJI UPMA

INGREDIENTS:

  • Oil:1 tablespoon
  • Ghee : 1 teaspoon(optional)
  • Mustard seeds: 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds : 1teasppon
  • Urad dal :1 teaspoon
  • Chana dal : 1 teaspoon
  • Cashews : 8 to 10
  • Curry leaves :1 sprig
  • Coriander leaves : 1 sprig
  • Ginger : ½ inch cube
  • Onion : 1 medium sized
  • Green chilly : 2 nos
  • Tomato : 1 medium sized (red n ripe)
  • Semolina rawa : 1 cup
  • Water : 3 cups

PROCEDURE:

  • Chop onions, tomatoes and green chillies into small pieces
  • Heat oil in a pan(you can add a little ghee if you want)
  • Roast cashews and keep them aside
  • Now in the same oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal and curry leaves
  • Chop ginger into very small pieces and saute
  • Now add the chopped onions, green chillies and sauté
  • Add salt and saute(Mix it)
  • when the onions turn translucent add the chopped tomatoes & stir
  • once the tomatoes are cooked add water and bring to boil
  • slowly add semolina and keep on stirring so that no lumps are formed
  • once rawa is properly mixed close the lid and leave it for a minute or two and turn off the heat
  • add the roasted cashew nuts , chopped coriander and stir
  • cashewnut upma/jeedipappu upma is ready. serve it as it is or with peanut chutney/coconut chutney/sambar/raita. It tastes even better if you just add a dash of lemon juice to it
